“Outside the Walls: A National Snapshot of Community-Based Prisoner Reentry Programs”
Producer

A two and a half hour video made up of six modules, highlighting 24 programs from around the country that are focusing on the issues facing hundreds of thousand of people being released from prison. The video is one part of the Reentry National Media Outreach Campaign designed to support the work of community and faith-based organizations through offering media resources that will facilitate community discussion and decision making about solution-based reentry programs. A growing level of activity is occurring among national, state, and local policy makers, researchers and practitioners to address this issue. At the same time, some of the most important and innovative work in the reentry field is occurring at the community level. “Outside The Walls” goes on location to visit the organizations that are assisting men, women, their families and communities in successful reintegration. Partners in the Reentry Campaign include the Annie E. Casey Foundation and the Urban Institute and is managed by Outreach Extension. Clips from the video and order forms for the complete set can be seen on the Reentry web site.
